We birded briefly today at DC Boothe Fish Hatchery in Spearfish. The main pond by the visitor's center is dry, but the North Pond had Mallard, Wood Duck, and Canada Geese. The willows along the outlet had FOS Yellow-rumped Warblers.
New arrivals at our feeders 1.5 miles south of Whitewood since last report include Mourning Dove, Lincoln Sparrow, and a pair of Mallards on Whitewood Creek. On 4/21 the Sharp-shinned returned and was in hot pursuit of an EC Dove, but we didn't see the ending as they were heading down the creek. Our bird watcher friend at Hat Ranch south of Belle Fourche had a FOS Rock Wren last week.
