Subject: American Pipits - Washington County April 23
I had a flock of 60+ American Pipits south of Palmer, Washington County, during a jog/walk yesterday. I’ve only seen American Pipits twice in my life and both times it was single individuals. So this was nice to see.

It was a heavy sparrow day as I walked. I heard or saw:
Vesper Sparrow
Harris’s Sparrow
House Sparrow
Lark Sparrow (thick)
Lincoln’s Sparrow
Chipping Sparrow

Merlin Bird app also heard (but I did not verify):
White-throated Sparrow
White-crowned Sparrow
Field Sparrow
Savannah Sparrow
Song Sparrow

I went to the Linn City Lagoons (also Washington County) later in the afternoon. Nothing much.

Waterfowl
• Blue-winged teal and Northern Shovelers were highest numbers.
1 Ruddy Duck
2 Green-winged Teal
2 American Coots
8 Canada Geese
1 Cackling Goose
2 Mallards

Shorebirds
Wilson’s Phalaropes were most common
2 Lesser Yellowlegs
1 Greater Yellowlegs
1 Spotted sandpipers
1 Dowitcher sp.
Killdeer
Some peeps

There were 2 Yellow-headed blackbirds still among the Red-winged blackbirds.

I had my first Ruby-throated hummingbird show up in my yard for like 3 minutes and never saw one again yesterday.
