An update on the Tricolored Heron.
Luckily, I arrived in time to see the Tricolored Heron not too long after Jim found it. It made a brief appearance out of the tall grass where it had been resting, then flew off toward the north end of the flooded area. Others arrived over the next hour or so. We all looked diligently for it but could not refind it.
In the afternoon, around 2 p.m., only Steve Freed and I were there. Shortly after Steve arrived, I briefly saw what I thought could be the Heron fly up briefly from very tall grass toward the back of the flooded area, then back into the tall grass. Maybe 10-15 minutes later Steve and I saw it again as it came flying towards us, gaining altitude. We watched it as if flew to the SE and out of the Lewis Bottoms area.

This morning an adult LAUGHING GULL was at Pleasant Creek, amongst other gulls and terns. They were resting on a jetty near the main ramps.
Later in the day I came across a TRICOLORED HERON at "Lewis Bottoms Marsh" just a mile south. It spent most its time in tall green grass along the fencerow.
I believe both are firsts for Linn Co.
