This morning I heard both song and calls of what sounded like a Northern Waterthrush along the section of Los Gatos Creek Trail north of Lark Ave. I did not see the bird. I did get not-so-great audio recordings. The song—two series of repeated notes, maybe with a single final note sometimes—was a bit deeper than most warblers’. The call was a fairly powerful chip, not really like any of our common birds.
This was in the vicinity of the first parking lot on Charter Oaks Dr (37.25353° N, 121.96336° W). I last heard it singing along the creek at 9:23 am slightly south of the parking lot. The creek itself is far from the trail here and not visible, but the bird actually sometimes called from the inland side of the trail.
I also heard a Black-chinned Hummingbird and a Western Tanager from this spot.
