Subject: Cleanup Day (and birding) - Marion Reservoir April 26th 9 am - 1 pm
I've asked about this for 21 years that we've been doing the cleanup day
out there but if we have birders who want to pick up trash and bird, let me
know, or just bird. Lol. We educate and try to compile bird lists during
the event. Jim Nickel was great previously. What's cool is to have an
expert who "sees" what we don't see.

My section leaders are all birders so we're doing the same to see what new
migrants have arrived (usually see our first orioles and last year observed
shorebirds on the back end at the causeway). I've seen a Brown Pelican,
Surf Scoter and Red-Necked Grebe on the reservoir in past years. Quite the
treats. Bird and wildlife observations are a great combo of why we do the
cleanup, especially removing discarded fishing line that injures and can be
fatal to birds.

We're meeting at Marion Cove, shelters 1, 2, 3 and 4. I have doughnuts,
gloves and t-shirts.

And I bet it rains.

Thanks
