Just an FYI to all this is a protected species.

There are those who would poach this and other species as they have real
value and a market for them if they know right where they are located.
I did the same thing as you many years ago but never posted a rare one
since after Don contacted me.
There are legal Snapping Turtle trappers that have certain laws to abide
by. They sell tons of live turtles to a fellow in Southern Iowa who
processes and ships the meat to the Chicago market. I know of a couple
commercially licensed Snapping Turtle farms as well.
I highly recommend Don's Facebook page for any who have interest.
