It has turned out to be a beautiful day - as predicted. However, early this morning it was foggy and cold. There was little activity, and I found no new migrants. I expect the activity picked up after the sun broke through the fog.

A notable feature of my early morning walk along the Kaw was that the mass of Cliff Swallows hanging out yesterday at the Mass bridge were gone; Tree Swallows, Northern Rough-winged, and Cliff Swallows packed next to each other on dead limbs overhanging the river. Trees and Rough-wings were most numerous. Most appeared to be resting from the migration flight rather than feeding over the river. Perhaps other species were doing the same.

Wood Ducks (6) appear to be increasing as the woods become wetter. Also, heard FOS Yellow-rump song. However, there was no visible influx of the species. Also, the mass Female Red-winged Blackbirds were noisily interacting and chowing down open tree buds. They have to be moving on to their breeding locations soon.
