Coming back from an early doctor's appointment today and putting my car back in the garage here I sew a Pileated Woodpecker. A Pileated Woodpecker has been putting holes in an old and not healthy Sugar Maple tree by the house here, no doubt after carpenter ants. Been hearing a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker drumming here today too
Took a walk yesterday morning along the Shepaug River in Hidden Valley Preserve in Washington Depot, CT. Mostly heard birds yesterday. Had two singing Louisiana Waterthrush on territory in their usual locations along the river. Heard Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and Common Flicker. Saw a pair of Common Mergansers on the river north of the Reich Memorial bridge. Heard a Belted Kingfisher on the river. Saw two Blue Jay and two Tufted Titmouse.
