Marie, for the past three winters, I have been on Ochlockonee Bay, FL (flows into Gulf of Mexico) mid-January through March. The Yellow-rumped Warblers are abundant. They are often at the suet feeder, but they also visit the hummingbird feeder! At first, I thought they were drinking the rain water that collects in the cavities intended for jelly, but no. They are at the small holes where they can access the syrup. I have never had a hummingbird at that feeder, but the Yellow-rumps do compete with the Red-bellied Woodpeckers who also enjoy the syrup. I keep the syrup level high so the Yellow-rumps can reach it. (I am assuming their tongues are shorter.) Holly > On Apr 18, 2025, at 6:31 PM, Marie P.
