Hi all,
There have been a couple of times in the past, while hiking the SCE road
above Black Star Canyon, and Fremont Canyon, that I could have sworn I
heard mountain quail off in the distance. Unfortunately they’ve always been
too far to record or ephemeral.
The recent eBird list (apparently with recordings) in that same area has me
thinking about it again. So far I’ve been told it is unlikely or impossible
as the species purportedly has not been documented in the counted in a long
time. The habitat is not unreasonable.
What is the most recent knowledge of this species in OC?
