Subject: Franklin County Black Vulture
I made a mad dash late this afternoon in a continued search for shorebirds
in Franklin and Anderson Counties. I found a Killdeer and a single Baird's
Sandpiper in Franklin County and none in Anderson County. I did enjoy the
time outside however and had a few lovely observations. There were three
flocks between 75 and 200 of northbound Franklin's Gulls in various
locations not near any water! Chipping Sparrows were loud and numerous at
the southern camp of Cedar Valley Reservoir. A BLACK VULTURE was heading
southwest (perhaps an overshoot) over Princeton Kansas in Franklin County,
an apparent new county record if accepted by KBRC.

Good Birding,
Malcolm Gold (Overland Park, Kansas, Johnson County)
