Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Franklin's Gull, 4/17, Tijuana River mouth
Time to start checking your local gull/tern flock (and your local
reservoirs, and migrating flocks of CAGU passing overhead...). This
morning there was an adult FRGU in full alternate plumage at the Tijuana
River mouth, shifting around with the ELTE/ROYT flock. It was initially
right at the river mouth, just to the S on the BFSP side, before
shifting with some terns up-channel to the NE, where a bit distant but
still visible. It was much pinker than the Elegants.

Although there's probably a low likelihood of it still being there
tomorrow, parking is at Seacoast Drive. Beware there's a lot of
construction going on, I was stuck at the end for several minutes on my
way out while they got one of their vehicles out of the the way.

I have a lot of photos to go through, but here's one:

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
