Had a nice outing scouting for my Birdathon team coming up on Sunday.
Starting from Harry Road, I was very pleased to find a Lawrence's Goldfinch not too far up the trail. Either they're more common this year, or maybe I'm just getting better at finding them :-).
Many of the usual suspects were around, including Wrentit, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, some Meadowlarks, a kestrel, and lots of swallows, both Violet-green and Tree.
Up near the curve towards the Santa Teresa Stile entrance I heard the lovely tones of a Lark Sparrow and was rewarded with some nice close looks.
I was not able to find the reported Ash-throated Flycatcher, and the wood ducks were absent this morning. Also missing were any Lazuli Buntings, which I'd been hoping for.
