CalBirds is an io group. Go to Sialia at http://digest.sialia.com/?region=2 and pick yesterday’s date, and there is an entire set of email groups to California regionally; the statewide group is CalBird, at the top. You can click on the link at left and presumably received instructions to join.
Others will have better instructions, but that would be one way to go
