Subject: [ia-bird] Greene Co. Prairie Falcon
At about noon today I saw a Falcon that appeared to me to be a Prairie
Falcon in flight. I first saw it close flying up from the ground away from
me showing its plain light brown back. It had pointed Falcon wings. There
was a Kestral in the area, too, but this bird was too big to be a Kestral
or a Merlin. As it flew higher, it appeared to be uniform colored
underneath with heavy brown streaking. When it turned its head, lower than
the eye, I briefly saw two vertical facial markings. It kept soaring
higher, heading north & west out of view. I was at an intersection a couple
miles north and west of Bayard.
