I’m still not 100% convinced, but people with more expertise than me say that my Marbled Godwit is actually a female Hudsonian. Just wanted to post that here to save anyone a special trip if that’s your target bird. But if you do decide to go have a look, try to get a photo of dark/black axillaries and underwing coverts, which would be diagnostic of a Hudsonian. I didn’t manage to get an image showing this. In fact, other than the obvious male Hudsonians briefly moving around, they rarely flew or even flapped, and I don’t remember even seeing the bird in question fly or flap. The bird in question was quite a bit bigger with a longer bill, which I thought was a giveaway (among other things), but after studying the species account online, apparently the female is bigger than the male in both aspects.
If anyone finds the bird and IDs it as a Marbled, please post. Good luck!
Wy
